History Of The Fair

The Priddis & Millarville Fair has its origins in 1907 when local farmers and ranchers in the area decided to organize an event where they could both display their efforts reflecting their rural lifestyle and, in some cases, engage in friendly competition. As with most events of its kind at the time, this also served as an important annual social gathering, even as it does today. In fact, many families in our area have attended and entered exhibits in the Fair through multiple generations, with many more to come. For a younger generation in particular, the Fair has been, through the decades, a chance to catch up with far-flung friends in the summer months and, as one older veteran of many Fair’s described, “learn the important social skill of how to lose with grace.”

Events

The Fair is an entertaining day, a chance to see how your baking, heifer, bird or artistic endeavours measure up to that of your neighbours, an opportunity to chat with friends about the merits of varieties of grasses and grains or paintings/photographs, to watch the English or Western equestrian events, to take the kids to the petting zoo and let them engage in various games, to laugh along with the competitors in the “Cow To Latte” competition or even partake of the Millarville Market which still operates on that day.

How To Enter The Fair

If you wish to enter an exhibit in the Fair you can find all categories on this website under “Fair Book” or contact the office at (403) 931-3411 to have a Fair Book mailed to you. We will also have capacity for on-line entries on this site shortly. Entering the Fair is easy and there is certainly something for everyone of any age group.

Where/When Is The Fair?
