Rules & Exhibitor’s Etiquette

 

1) Junior Exhibitors may enter in an age group older than their own age. Junior Exhibitors may not enter in an age group lower than their own age.
2) Upon entry of each exhibit, a tag specifying the section and the class will be furnished to the exhibitor, and must be attached to the exhibit. Livestock exhibitors will be supplied with an identification number which must be worn.
3) No prize money will be paid for any unregistered ram in breeding classes.
4) No animal suffering from contagious or infectious diseases will be allowed on the grounds.
5) The Judges shall act with the most rigid impartiality, referring to the Fair Division Managers in cases of doubt. After completing their work, the Judges shall sign the awards which must be handed to the Section Committee. The Judges’ decision, as signed, shall be final.
6) An exhibitor lodging a protest must do so in writing. This said protest must be accompanied by a deposit of $25 and must be handed to the MRAS Secretary not later than 5:00 p.m. on the day of the Fair. Exhibitors must state the cause of the protest, and if such protest is not sustained, the said sum will be forfeited to the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society. The Board of the Fair reserves the right to interpret rules and regulations. Any exhibitor or agent thereof, who publicly expresses disapproval while on the grounds concerning a decision, shall be guilty of conduct unbecoming an exhibitor resulting in the forfeit of any prize, removal of entries that are subject of the dispute and the exhibitor shall be excluded from further competition.
7) The Fair Division Managers shall in no case be responsible for any Special Award, though every effort will be made by the Division Managers to see that such prizes are paid or delivered. Neither will they be responsible for errors in the prize lists.
icon cool Rules & Exhibitor’s Etiquette The Judge has the authority to put exhibits in their correct classes. If the stock or article exhibited is of inferior quality, awards, if any, will be left to the discretion of the Judge.
9) The sale of exhibits will be disallowed on the Fair Grounds. (Items in scheduled Auctions exempt from this rule)
10) NO EXHIBITS TO BE REMOVED FROM DISPLAY BEFORE 4:30 P.M. THE DAY OF THE FAIR. The Fair Division Managers are not responsible for any articles left on the grounds or in facilities after 6:00 p.m. Fair Day.
11) All exhibits must be the bonafide property of exhibitors for at least 30 days prior to the Fair. Proof must be available.
12) The Division Managers will in no way be responsible for damage to or theft of the exhibits. Security will be in place from Friday night through until 9:00 a.m. Saturday.
13) Entry fees cannot be refunded for exhibitors unable to attend the Fair.
14) All entry forms must be received at the Millarville Racing and Agricultural Society office NOT LATER THAN AUGUST 1st, 2011. Entry fees must accompany completed entry forms. Faxed entries will not be accepted. Please enclose cheques or money orders – do not use cash unless entries are made in person. NO ENTRY FEES will be refunded if cancelled after August 1st, 2011.
15) ABSOLUTELY NO POST ENTRIES OR EXCHANGES WILL BE ACCEPTED THE DAY OF FAIR EXCEPT IN VEGETABLES SECTION 3000, JUNIOR VEGETABLES SECTION 3500, FLOWERS SECTION 4000 AND JUNIOR FLOWERS SECTION 4500. Entry tags purchased prior to August 1st, 2011 for one of the above sections may be used for any class within that section, providing the exhibitor fills in the class and article on the tag prior to the judging on Friday evening.
16) Exhibit tags can be picked up between 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. Friday August 19, 2011. All indoor exhibits must be in the hands of the DIVISION MANAGERS NO LATER THAN 5:00 P.M. FRIDAY, AUGUST 19, 2011. All other exhibits must be received no later than 8:00 a.m. the morning of the Fair or they will not be accepted. INDOOR EXHIBITS WILL BE JUDGED FRIDAY EVENING.

EXHIBITOR’S ETIQUETTE

• Read the prize list carefully and follow the requirements. All entries not complying with the prize list may be disqualified.
• Read the judging standards to know what quality you are aiming for and how your entry will be judged. The standards are available from Alberta Association of Agricultural Societies and from Government of Alberta publications service.
• Be sure your entries are clean, neat and presentable. Follow any instructions for presentation given in the Fair Book.
• Fill out your entry form carefully. Be sure you have entered the right category.
• Properly label or tag all entries.
• Make sure all entries arrive at the exhibit location on time.
• Be open minded. You can’t always win, but great satisfaction can be derived from showing your work.
• If you have questions or suggestions that would improve the fair or your exhibits for next year, take time to talk to the organizers.
